For the first time on this show, I'm the one being interviewed. My friend of almost thirty years, Dr. Jason Johnson, sat me down to ask the questions instead of the other way around.
Jason and I met when he was a broke graduate student, and I was building a business curriculum called Urban Learn. Decades later, he's a political analyst, journalist, and professor, and he knows my story better than almost anyone. In this conversation, he asks me what my work actually is, why some people need permission to reconnect with their own heritage, how shame shows up in this process, even for me, and why this work matters more than ever right now.
Reconnecting, discovering something new, or deciding what to pass on? I’d love to hear it.
