Heritage Reconnection: The “Now What?” After Discovery
What happens after you learn something new about where you come from?
So, now what?
Heritage Reconnection is the ongoing process of building, rebuilding, strengthening, or deepening your relationship with your cultural heritage and deciding what that connection means in your life now.

Start with what you already have. Understand what shaped you. Deepen your connection. Decide what you want to pass on.

I call my family
I grew up knowing very little about my Dominican and Jamaican heritage. As a young adult, I began intentionally reconnecting with it. Later, becoming the mother of an Ethiopian daughter made questions of heritage, access, identity, and what we pass on even more personal.
Explore My Story →Heritage Fragments are tangible and intangible pieces of culture, family, history, and identity that we inherit, live with, discover, recognize, or notice are missing.
A Heritage Fragment might be a word you still say. A dish you still make. A name. A photograph. A place. A family story you half remember. Or something you notice is missing.
You do not need the whole story to begin. You can start with what you already have.
